A patch of marsh forest less than 100km2 that exist between Apoi and Gbanraun communities and utilized by other communities including Kokologbene and Ukubie is one of the few sites important for the conservation of the Niger Delta red colobus monkey. Situated in Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, these forests also contain the red-capped mangabey and the Nigerian putty-nosed monkey.
